Darren Carter (founder) grew up with construction at the center of everything. From 3 generations of Quality builders, the Carter family have built a solid reputation within the South West. With his two brothers continuing the family business, Darren decided to take an alternative route into the construction industry through Architecture.
Darrens ambitions to practice Architecture became a reality in 2006. After being employed for 6 years by a local firm, Darren founded D3 Architecture in 2012. We now have the help of 2 part time staff (Rob and Tanya), who assist in surveying and office duties to support the growth of D3. We pride ourselves on being a small company who deliver and excellent, friendly and personal service.
Deciding to build an extension, renovate a house or build new home can be an overwhelming task, especially for those doing it for the first time. We believe in keeping things simple and enjoyable from start to finish.
Through step-by-step guidence and consultation, our clients are guided through the entire process, with their envolvement only being where it is required. We don't expect our clients to have any building knowledge or experience, and we enjoy having the opportunity to explain and show the our clients through the process.
As part of our holistic approach to design, we feel that the client should play an active role in the design stage of a project, and that a clients goals should combine with our knowledge, experience and other factors to develop the final proposal.
We take care of all red-tape processes involved in design stage of construction for our clients, from coordination to health and safety compliance, so that they are left to focus on their roles which are most important to the project - ensuring the design brief is accurate and in line with their personal goals for the project.
Over the years, we have developed a holistic approach to design - where we constantly strive to see the full context and impact of our decisions - which allows all the variables and moving parts within a project to dictate the direction of a proposal, to arrive at a solution which envelopes all requirements of the client, environment and the community.
We're passionate about the area in which we live ourselves, and we allow this passion to constantly remind us of our responsibility towards improving the area for current and future generations. We believe in using traditional, local materials such as Oak, Natural Slate, Stone and Lime Render wherever possible.
Very hard working and reliable.
Would certainly recommend.
